Lake Orion Community Schools Strategic Planning Team, consisting of community members, staff, administrators, Board members, and parents, has made significant progress to this point. Originally, the team reviewed community and staff input data, determined common themes within the data and divided the data into four specific areas: Student Achievement, Learning Environments, Finance and Communication. Now, after several months of meeting as subcommittees, this team has begun to create a blueprint for Lake Orion Community Schools for the next several years.

The Board of Education recently approved the goal statements for each of the strategic goal areas. The Learning Environment area was combined with the Student Achievement area.

• All students will achieve at least one year's worth of academic growth each year.

• Enhance and increase communication with students, staff, parents, and the community.

• Remain fiscally responsible.

Lake Orion Administration presented action plans to the committee on January 20 and to the Board of Education on January 26. Work on the action plans has begun and will continue throughout the school year. Later this school year, an update will be given on plans for the next two years in each area. The District is energized by the progress of the Strategic Plan and knows that Lake Orion children will reap the benefits for years to come.
