Question:
What is the purpose of the Strategic Planning Process?
Answer:
The Board of Education and the Administration is launching a new initiative to guide Lake Orion Community Schools through a five-year strategic planning process. The purpose of this initiative is to help us develop new goals and strategies for continuing to offer an excellent education for our students, while using scarce public education resources in the most effective and efficient ways.

An integral part of the strategic planning process is a comprehensive community engagement campaign, which includes a community survey, focus groups, and communication strategies to improve and promote two-way communications. More importantly, we want to hear from the community about what’s important to them as we make decisions regarding the future direction of Lake Orion Community Schools. Community members, parents, teachers, students, teachers and all district staff members will have the opportunity to give input on the strengths of the district and areas for improvement.

Stakeholder input, along with the comprehensive district data, provides the basis for the district to choose three to five priority goals for the next one to five years.
