Scripps Middle School teacher Melissa Dalton (pictured, on left) was named the “World Language Teacher of the Year for the Central States Region” earlier this month. She competed against teachers from Arkansas, North Dakota, South Dakota, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio and Wisconsin. In 2016, Dalton was named the Michigan World Language Association’s Middle School Teacher of the Year. This is the first time a teacher from Michigan has received the coveted regional honor. This fall, Dalton will be competing for the National Language Teacher of the Year Award from the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages.
