Ski & Snowboard Club: Time to Hit the Slopes!

The Lake Orion Elementary Ski Club would like to welcome back all our returning skiers and snowboarders and invite anyone new to join us for some winter fun.  Ski Club will take place on Tuesdays again this year.  Attached you will find the details about the Lake Orion Elementary Ski and Snowboard Club and how you can join.  We will be closely watching for some snow from Mother Nature, but right now we’re planning on official ski club nights beginning in January.  You can come up to Pine Knob on ANY Tuesday evening until the end of the season to purchase your membership cards.  Please Join the clubs Facebook page, this is the MOST EFFECTIVE way to know what is happening in ski club.  https://www.facebook.com/groups/LOElementarySKICLub/.

Please read the attached letter carefully for details.

Lice Alert

Unfortunately, as many of you know, we have had several cases of Head Lice at Blanche Sims.  Since it is now cold outside, it is very important that your children understand that they should not share hats or earmuffs.  Anyone can get Head Lice and it is vital that we all work together to prevent its spread.

Lost & Found and Labeling All Items

Please check out the lost and found racks for lost items. Items left by the holiday break will be cleaned and donated. We have many single gloves looking for their match! It would be very helpful for us to return lost items if they had a name on them.  Please write your child’s name on all items. (coats, lunchboxes, water bottles,..) If there is a name on lost items, we can easily return them.

Please, Please, Please Help Your Children get to School on Time

School starts at 8:40. If you are dropping your child off in the morning at 8:40, they are tardy.  If you are dropping your child off at 8:35, they are still probably tardy after they go to their lockers and certainly if they go to breakfast.

Plan on dropping your child off by 8:30. Ten minutes early is the minimum safe zone for children being on time.  What is on-time?  On time means that the student is in the classroom and ready to learn at 8:40. When a child is tardy, it often impacts most of their day and the children around them. In addition to the distraction of children entering the classroom late, teachers often have to stop their instruction and catch the tardy student up on everything they missed.  Being tardy is just bad for everyone. PLEASE plan on dropping your child off at least 10 minutes early.  Let’s all do all we can to help our children learn at their best.

Show Your Blanche Sims Pride

These decals and clings are free one condition,…..that you promise to put it on your car and show your Blanche Sims pride! (we will be checking J)
