Every day, Kate DiMeo is boosting someone in Lake Orion Community Schools.
A relentless energy force, DiMeo’s experience in English Language Arts is known throughout the state of Michigan and beyond. As the LOCS district literacy coach, she connects with students and faculty in every part of the district.
Which is why it’s fitting that she was informed today she earned the Michigan Lottery Excellence in Education Award for this week.
Recognizing “outstanding K-12 teachers and staff who are making significant impact in the lives of Michigan students,” the award show DiMeo’s impact throughout LOCS.
The qualities defining the award, given to only 34 state of Michigan teachers through the year: Excellence, Dedication, Inspiration, Leadership and Effectiveness.
The award earns her a $1,500 cash prize, a $500 grant to the school district and she will be featured during a WXYZ-TV (Channel 7) broadcast. She is now in the running for the Michigan Lottery's Educator of the Year Award and a grand prize of $10,000.
DiMeo has spent more than 20 years in education, holding an Educational Specialist degree in Administration from Oakland University and a master’s in Teaching from Michigan State University.
