LOHS senior John Klee honored by U.S. Army All-American Marching Band

John Klee honored, invited to U.S. Army All-American Marching Band

Lake Orion High School senior John Klee was presented Wednesday with his official invitation by the U.S. Army to participate in its annual All-American Game.

The Jan 6, 2018 high school all-star football game will be played at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, and he will be involved as part of the All-American Marching Band.

As one of just 125 selected among thousands of applicants, Klee will travel to there and spend a few days preparing as part of the halftime show.

His participation is the latest in a string of All-American Marching Band members to participate in recent years and all expenses (room, board, travel, uniform) are paid by the game's organizers.

"I always thought about it, my junior year I'm going to work my hardest for this and try my best for it," Klee said. "I wasn't sure how much of a chance I had because there's so many people aopplying and I was lucky enough to get sleected. It was a big goal for me."

Klee plays all types of saxophone and some piano as well. Since picking up the sax in fifth grade at his elementary school in Dearborn and contiuing through Waldon Middle School and LOHS in Lake Orion, Klee has only deepened his passion for music.

"I wanted to be a part of band because I love music so much," he said. "My first experience with music? I heard the Pink Panther theme song and I thought, that sounds so cool, I want to learn saxophone now."

Years later, it will take him to a national stage.
