Points of Pride

Orion Oaks is recognized as a Michigan Blue Ribbon Exemplary School.
Students and staff participate in multiple Character Education/We Make a Difference Assemblies.
Our students participate in the annual "Pinwheels for Peace" program which promotes; peace, tolerance, cooperation, and unity within our school and community.  
Parents, staff, and students joined in helping the needy throughout our community by donating clothing and helping local charities through the "Families Helping Families" program.
The "Star Wishes Program" helps Orion Oaks families in need during the holidays by providing: clothing, food, gift certificates, and toys.
Orion Oaks Kindergarten teacher, Lorie Van Arsdale, was named the Lake Orion Community Schools Elementary Teacher of the Year 2012.  
Orion Oaks 5th graders participate in "Skate-Park Science" which applies the laws of science and energy while designing a model skate-park.  
The "Animal Savers Club" made up of 3rd and 4th grade students donated money to create awareness of endangered animals and adopted a Mere Kat and Polar Bear.
The Orion Oaks students and staff, in conjunction with the Parent Network sponsor the annual Fine Arts Night. This major event celebrates all the fine arts with activities, concerts, galleries, and student work throughout the school.
Orion Oaks has added Learning Support Services (LSS) for mathematics in addition to the already established LSS for literacy.  

Approximately eighty student acts are performed at the annual Orion Oaks Talent Show.

The Orion Oaks Family Network sponsors the annual Fun Run that rose over $17,000 for school programs in the 2012/2013 school year.
Orion Oaks is recognized as a Michigan Green School and Energy Star Status for our work in recycling and conserving energy while protecting the environment.
Our staff donated $500 to the Lake Orion Lions Club to help families in need within our community.  
Countless parents volunteer everyday within Orion Oaks to assist our educational staff in the learning process.  
Fifth grade students participate in the annual 5th Grade Musical.  
Upper elementary students participated in the "Amazing Michiganians" program which highlights notable Michiganders through displays and role-plays.
The Orion Oaks Family Network Sponsor many school events including: Family Movie Night, DragonRock, Fun Night, and Character Education Assemblies.
The Orion Oaks Family Network donated over $16,000 to the school for the purchase of classroom technology which included: document cameras, projectors, iPads, iPods, digital video camera, DVD/VHS combo players.  
All kindergartners perform in the Nursery Rhyme Family Night and Production.  
 An average of 12 teams of 3-5 students from Orion Oaks participate in the annual Lake Orion Library sponsored "Battle of the Books" event.  
Orion Oaks students planted and nursed over 700 Oak trees from acorns as part of our Green School initiative sponsored by Trees for Living.
All Orion Oaks Staff and Students took a stand against school bullying by participating in the National Stand 4 Change program.
