Orion Oaks' parent group is your Family Network. Comprised of many Action Teams, each team is designed to focus on a specific area dedicated to the enrichment of our children's education, providing supplemental programs and materials to enhance their school experience. Current Action Teams are:

Assemblies: Coordinates fun and educational school-wide assemblies to augment the curriculum.

Choice Time: Develops and provides stimulating materials and playground equipment for use during outdoor and indoor recesses.

Community Relations: Coordinates community outreach programs, such as Families Helping Families and Star Wishes adopt-a-family program.

Connections: After school activities and clubs, such as Math Club and 5 th grade Fun Nights are lead by this team.

Fine Arts/Holiday: Organizes evening family events, such as Spooky Dinner and Fine Arts Night as well as designing and decorating theme walls in the school.

Fundraising: Activities include Market Day, Kroger Community Rewards, Box Tops for Education and Campbell 's Labels for Education, as well as other events as needed to achieve a working budget for Family Network. Market Day is usually the first Tuesday of each month.

Horticulture: Beautifies and maintains our Orion Oaks' gardens and has run a garden club in past years.

Hospitality/Staff Appreciation: Provides food and refreshment to all of Orion Oaks' staff during parent/teacher conferences and throughout Staff Appreciation week in May.

March is Reading Month: Assists with reading activities, author assemblies, book fairs and other events during March.

School Directory: Compiles information for the school directory for easy communication.

Spirit Wear: Helps man tables offering the sale of Lake Orion Spirit Wear, takes orders, and delivers merchandise in the fall and spring.

School One : Administers a weekly Youth Savings Day on which students may open a savings account or make deposits with Citizens Community Plus Credit Union .

Welcome Team: Parents who generally have had at least one child go all the way through a particular neighborhood, available to answer questions, alleviate concerns, or direct new families as to where to find the answers they need.

Meetings are informal , a great place to make connections, get questions answered, brainstorm, and find out what's going on in our school. All ideas and contributions are welcome and valued. We meet the first or second Monday evening of each month throughout the school year, at 7:00 pm in the cafeteria. Our schedule can be found on the Monthly Calendar.

Anyone interested in participating in the Family Network can call the school at 248-393-0010 for a contact person. Each of these action teams only need a handful of parents to plan and facilitate events throughout the year and there is no limit on the number of interested parents. These teams may be as active as they choose and everyone is welcome to attend. Participation is available to whatever extent your time allows.

As always, you do not need to be on an Action Team to attend the Family Network meetings. Come find out what is happening at your school.
