The state of Michigan's release of the M-STEP testing scores last week revealed the success of Lake Orion's students, particularly in English Language Arts.
In a compilation of the M-STEP scores, LOCS had 72% pass the reading portion of the test, which placed 11th among districts in the state and fourth in Oakland County.
Mlive.com printed the complete results in an Aug. 30 story.
The ELA portion is administered to students in Grades 3-8.
The M-STEP is given online and measures current student knowledge of Michigan's high academic standards in Mathematics, English Language Arts (ELA), Science, and Social Studies.
Students in Grades 3 and 6 were assessed in Mathematics and ELA; students in Grades 4 and 7 were assessed in Mathematics, ELA, and Science; students in Grades 5 and 8 were assessed in Mathematics, ELA, and Social Studies; and students in Grade 11 were assessed in Science and Social Studies in M-STEP and ELA and Mathematics with SAT.
