It is time to kick off a new school year, Olweus style! Olweus is a bullying prevention program that strives to reduce and prevent bullying, and to improve peer relationships. When these goals are met, we create a safer and more positive school environment. On Thursday mornings during STAR we hold our Olweus classroom meetings.
Our September lessons will focus on establishing classroom meeting norms and discussing our school-wide rules:
We will not bully others.
We will try to help students who are bullied.
We will try to include students who are left out.
If we know that somebody is being bullied, we will tell an adult at school and an adult at home.
It is our hope that the Olweus program generates a clear and consistent message and that it continues to be a part of everyday life at Scripps Middle School.
