PowerSchool Help

PowerSchool is Lake Orion Community School's student information system. You can use PowerSchool to view your student's grades, attendance and to contact teachers.
If you already have a PowerSchool Account with LOCS,
Log in Here:
 

If you are new to PowerSchool create a parent account:

In order to create an account, you must have the unique student *Access ID and Access Password for at least one student enrolled in school. If you do not have this information or have questions, contact your school. The school sends home Access IDs and passwords for new students, or one can be mailed to you upon request. We cannot give this information over the phone. The unique student Access ID and Password are NOT used to log in to the Parent PowerSchool Portal. You must first create an Account:
 

  1. In your Web browser, type or click on this link: https://ps.lakeorion.k12.mi.us/public. This link can also be found under the LO Parents>Links tab at the top of district webpages.
     
  2. The Parent Sign In page appears. Click the Create Account tab and then Click the  button.
     
  3. Use the following table to enter information in the Create Parent Account section:
     

Field

Description

First Name

Enter your first name.

Last Name

Enter your last name.

Email

Enter your email address. The email address you enter is used to send you select information, as well as account recovery notices and account changes confirmations.

Desired Username

Enter the username you would like to use when signing in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal. The user name must be unique. Do not use your email address as a Username.

Password

Enter the password you would like to use when signing in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal. If your school has requirements it will display. Enter your password based upon these requirements.

Re-Enter Password

Enter your password again exactly as you entered it in the above field.

 

  1. Use the following table to enter information in Link Students to Account section:
     

Field

Description

Student Name

Enter the first and last name of the student you want to add to your account.

Access ID

Enter the unique access ID for the student.*

Note: If you do not have this information, contact your school.

Access Password

Enter the unique access password for the student.*

Note: If you do not have this information, contact your school.

Relationship

Indicate how you are related to the student from the pop-up menu.

 

  1. Click Enter. The Parent Sign In page appears. You are now ready to login to the system using your new username and password that you created in step 3 above.

* The unique Access Code and Access Password is NOT the same as the one your child uses to log into their PowerSchool Account. Note: Access IDs and Access Passwords are case sensitive.


To Add a Child to Your Account:

Once you have logged in, click on the

  • ACCOUNT PREFERENCES icon on the Navigation Menu.
  • Choose the STUDENTS tab.
  • Click ADD next to My Students then use the Access information to add the student.
  • Click Submit.
     

To Receive PowerSchool Email Notifications of Grades and Attendance:

Email notifications allow you to receive your student’s grades and attendance directly to your email on a regular basis. You can customize your email notifications for each of your students or receive the same information for all your students. Once you have logged in, click on the EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS icon on the Navigation Menu and enter your desired notification elements and click Submit.
 

To Update Your Email Address, User Name and/or Password:

Once you have logged in,

  • Click on the ACCOUNT PREFERENCES icon on the Navigation Menu.
  • Choose the PROFILE tab.
  • Make applicable changes to First Name, Last Name and Email address and/or click on the pencil to make changes for the User Name and Current Password fields.
  • Click Save.
