Maker Fair a huge success

Maker Fair

The Feb. 10 Lake Orion Community Schools Maker Fair was an huge success as nearly 200 students pariticipated in the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) activities at Lake Orion High School.

Students in Grades 3-8 visited 32 stations where they could make Derby cars, copper etched jewelry, and stress balls.

They designed boxes that would allow an egg to survive a 25-foot drop, learned to knit, and made rockets to launch the length of the gym.

Guided by LOHS students from the National Science Honors Society, who designed and organized many of the stations, the participants were able to pop from station to station to absorb the full experience.

The district’s media specialists, middle school technology teachers, and LOHS art teachers also assisted to run some of the stations. The day was filled with STEAM fun and learning.
